Designing with Technologies

Computer aided design basically is the process of drafting while on the computer. The process includes drafting documentation and manufacturing in form of electronic files. Legos are just blocks that are also used to design different things. These days they actually have it online where you are able to play with them/ design while on a computer. Musical Sketch Pad is the same where it allows you to make music while on the computer. It allows you to compose a piece that will eventually be a great music piece. There are other designing types of technology for example geometry sketch pad allows you to learn and build different geometric shapes while learning different information about what you may have created. They all come to a point to where they are allowing you to design and come up with some type of new discovery. You are learning through your own findings and this is considered to be the best type of learning. This is the best because when you discover something you are more likely not to forget and also have made a difference in the art of designing while learning. I can’t wait to incorporate this type of learning into my lesson. I have always thought this was the best way for children to learn. Designing with technology is not only something allows children to learn but they can also have fun.

Podcasting

I have learned a lot of information about pod cast that I had no clue of. Podcast are shows that are recorded and can be listened to for your enjoyment. You can even go online and listen to shows that have been missed. A majority of the podcast are free and some must be paid for. You do not need a broadcaster or anything to create your own pod cast. All you need is a camcorder computer and a web connection. There are plenty of sites that let you upload them to subscribers for free. Once there online you can listen to them on a computer or even down load them onto an iPod or MP3 player so you can listen to them anywhere. I would use this in my classroom for teaching lessons and putting them online for students to maybe go back and review what was taught. You also can make podcast to show your parents what and how you are teaching your students.

Podcast or similar to web 2.0 applications based on individuals being able to listen to your podcast online just like you can show any of the 2.0 applications to anyone online. Just like voice thread you can view sound to your audience and also have a place where you can get feedback or comments from others. With bookmarking you can place your favorite web URLS in groups in which you want to categorize them. With podcast you can also save them and move them about your page as needed. You also can view any of these applications including the podcast on any computer. You do not have to be on one computer to see any of them but in difference you may be only allowed to download certain podcast on one computer. The difference between the pod cast and the 2.0 applications is you can put the podcast on mp3 and iPods and you can’t do that with any of the other applications.

I am IPod owner and I absolutely love it! I carry it every day with me and listen to music that I have downloaded on it. I also have it to where I can receive videos and podcast. I have never used podcasting because I never knew what it was and I thought it might have been very expensive to use. Now that I know what podcasting is, I will be working on recording lesson for my classroom. Students will be able to down load them for free and go back over information they may not have understood or maybe need a little more help on. That way they can carry school along with them and watch some of the lesson they have learned and review. This is also a way for parents to listen to what their children are learning while in class and also how much it will help when their children need help. They may can listen and learn from the podcast and also be able to help their children with their lessons.

Web 2.0 Tools

For beginners, I never had heard of any of the Web 2.0 applications until today’s lesson.  The wiki is a great site that can be used when completing anything that is done with a group. It’s good for activities in class, and also out of class. I would definitely use it for online classes that require you to complete group assignments. I was thinking of how easy it is because when you send emails back and forth they seem to get lost sometimes. The wiki insures that the group can make adjustments to anything that they do or don’t agree on when completing certain things.

The social bookmarking is also great when you need to find websites. You can have your the websites needed from any computer you are working on. Also it gives access to others who may be interested in some of your favorite websites. I think this is great for teachers when needing to collaborate on different lesson plans. The voice thread is a great way to conduct online class. You can send your students pictures with the voice on what you may want them to know and learn. I would start an account and have my students to log on to show their parents different notes and homework I may want them to work on. I also would give them a chance to present their different work to me through voice thread. This gives them a chance to use technology and also gain something new for them to use in their future.
